CREST Olympiads


The CREST Olympiads is an international competitive exam held online for students in classes 1-10, divided into various levels. The exam is an objective-type test that the students need to complete in 60 minutes.

CREST Olympiads Exams

CREST Olympiads aims to help students become well-rounded individuals who can solve critical thinking problems from multiple perspectives. The exams are based on conceptual knowledge. These Olympiad exams are trying to break the typical stereotype around regular Olympiad exams. The different Olympiad Exams conducted by the CREST Olympiad are,

  • CREST Mathematics Olympiad (CMO)
  • CREST Science Olympiad (CSO)
  • CREST English Olympiad (CEO)
  • CREST Reasoning Olympiad (CRO)
  • CREST Cyber Olympiad (CCO)
  • CREST International Spell Bee Winter Competition (CSBW)

CREST exam consists of two sections, the practical section, and achievers section. Given below are the highlights for CREST Olympiads:

  • Students will be provided separate question papers for each section.
  • The medium of the exam is English.
  • The Olympiad questions are asked from the CBSE, ICSE/ISC, and other state board syllabus itself.
  • The exam is conducted online only using a laptop, desktop, or tablet with an Internet connection. It can't be taken using a mobile device.
  • In case the students have not done registration through school, they will have to take exams from home.

Given below is the registration procedure for CREST Olympiads Exams.

  • Students can register themselves for CREST Olympiads through this registration link - CREST Olympiad Registration.
  • The registration process for CREST Olympiads can be done in two modes.
    • School Registration
    • Individual Registration
  • Schools registering for these exams can conduct these exams using their computer lab. The students are not allowed to take exams using a Mobile device.
  • The registration fee for each subject is Rs. 225 for students studying and enrolling from India. For students studying and residing outside of India, the fee is $10.
  • In the case of individual registration, the CREST Olympiads exam will be monitored through webcam.

All students are eligible for this exam. Registration may be done through school or individually through the website. The medium of the exam is English, and the mode is online. Here is the exam pattern for all level 1 exams (except the Spell Bee exam) conducted by the CREST Olympiads.

CREST International Spell Bee is conducted for classes 1 to 8. Level one of CSB is an online exam conducted for 55 minutes. The exam consists of two sections:

  • Section-1: Spell Bee (55 minutes)
  • Section-2: Rapid Fire (5 minutes)

For CCO and CRO (all classes), and CEO, CSO, and CMO (classes 1 and 2) exams, there will be only one exam (level 1). The ranks will be accorded on the following criteria:

  • Marks obtained in the exam.
  • In case two or more students score the same number of marks, ranks will be determined based on marks scored in the 'Achievers' section.
  • If it is a tie between 2 students, then the student who completed the test in lesser time will be ranked higher.
  • In case of a tie again, the younger student based on the date of birth will be ranked higher.
  • Since CREST Olympiads will be held on different days and sessions with different sets of question papers, final ranks will be announced based on normalization of the ranks for each session.
  • In case two or more students score the same marks under the criteria above, they will be awarded the same rank.

Level 2 exams will be conducted for the CEO, CMO, CSB, and CSO exams only. Students have to qualify any of the following criteria to give CREST Olympiad Level 2 Olympiad exams.

  • Top 5% of candidates in a particular class that has given the level 1 exam
  • Top 25 students in a particular class and city (top 50 cities in India)/zone (remaining towns and cities including international locations is divided into 5 zones - East, West, North and South, and International)
  • The student will be considered qualified only when there are at top 3 students from his/her school with more than 25 students in a class appearing for an Olympiad Exam.

CREST Olympiads level 2 exams rank criteria will be for students of class 3-10 appearing in CEO, CSO, and CMO exams.

  • Marks obtained in the exam.
  • In case two or more students score the same number of marks, ranks will be determined based on marks scored in the Level 1 exam.
  • In case there's a tie, ranks will be determined based on marks scored in the 'Achievers' section of Level 2 exam.
  • If it is a tie between 2 students, then the student who completed the test in lesser time will be ranked higher.
  • In case of a tie again, the younger student based on the date of birth will be ranked higher.
  • Since CREST Olympiads will be held on different days and sessions with different sets of question papers, final ranks will be announced based on normalization of the ranks for each session.
  • In case two or more students score the same marks under the criteria above, they will be awarded the same rank.

For students appearing for CCO, CRO, and students of classes 1-2 appearing in CEO, CSO, and CMO exams, the awards and recognition is as follows:

  • Top 15% of students from this category will be awarded a merit certificate.
  • Top 5% of students from this section will be awarded a medal and a merit certificate.
  • Top 3 students (registered through school) from every school with more than 25 students in a class appearing for an Olympiad Exam will be awarded a merit certificate.
  • Overall top 3 students from classes 1-10 will be awarded achiever's trophy and a merit certificate.
  • Digital certificate to every participant.
  • If a student meets 2 or more criteria, then they will qualify for a higher award.
  • All students qualifying for level 2 will be awarded a merit certificate.
  • Top 10% students in level 2 will be awarded a medal and a merit certificate.
  • Overall top 3 students from classes 1-10 will be awarded achiever's trophy and a merit certificate.
  • Digital certificate to every participant.
  • If a student meets 2 or more criteria, then they will qualify for a higher award.
  • If a student meets 2 or more criteria, then they will qualify for a higher award.

All the awards will be delivered to the participant's school or residential address provided by the participant at the time of registration. CREST Olympiads will not be responsible for non-delivery of the awards due to incorrect or insufficient address.

  • As these exams are parent/teacher assisted, there would be no ranks given to the students, although the students who achieve more than 60% in the exams will be awarded a merit certificate and medal.
